This week (wb 21.9.2026) in Maths, we will be learning about more than, less than and the same.

On Monday the children will collect natural resources on the playground, then look at them during maths to compare which we have more or less of. We will discuss if the objects look the same or different. 

On Tuesday we will make simple comparisons of amounts. We will look at two groups of objects and identify which group has the most and which has the least. 

On Wednesday we will compare and talk about large and small amounts. We will look at a toy farm and say which animals there are more of, less of, or the same amount. 

On Thursday we will make large and small collections. Under fabric there will be two towers of cubes and the children will look at them separately and discuss which colour tower has the most. 

On Friday we will make collections of objects the same. We will have resources in groups and move them around, so each group has all matching objects. We will then say which group has the most or least amount. 

To support your child at home, please work with them on counting up to 5 and recognising the corresponding numerals.
