This week (wb 12.10.2026) in Maths, we will be learning to hear and say number names.

On Monday we will focus on hearing number names and the children will talk about number names that they know. On Tuesday we will be encouraging the children to join in with saying number names. We will sing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 once I caught a fish alive again, then sing 1, 2 buckle my shoe to continue to support counting. One, two, buckle my shoe | Early Years - Nursery Rhymes

On Wednesday we will be saying number names up to 5 in order. We will recap the songs we have looked at this week, the begin looking at digit cards. The children will be introduced to digits 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and we will work together to say the correct name with the correct digit. 

On Thursday we will be taking turns at saying number names in order. Miss Allan will say some number names and the children will repeat them to support counting in order. 

On Friday we will recap everything covered through the week. The children will sing our songs again then try and name the digits they see on our digit cards from 1-5. 

To support your child at home, please work with them on counting up to 5 and recognising the corresponding numerals.
