This week (week beginning 15.6.2026) we are starting to learn about weight.   

On Monday we will introduce key vocabulary of heavy, heaviest, light and lightest. We will talk to the children about what these words mean so they can compare objects later in the week. 

On Tuesday we will be looking at two objects and identifying which object is the heaviest. The children will feel both objects and say how they know which the heaviest is. 

On Wednesday there will be no maths as we are having our teddy bears picnic. 

On Thursday we will be looking at two objects and identifying which object is the lightest. The children will feel both objects and say how they know which the lightest is. 

Finally, on Friday we will be using balance scales to compare objects by weight. The children will be linking their knowledge of heaviest and lightest to identify which object is the heaviest or lightest.
