This week we are revisiting repeats and the children will be leading on their own repeats.
Our song of the week is: Number song 1-20 for children | Counting numbers | The Singing Walrus
On Monday our learning intention is for the children to join in fully with repeats in songs. As a class we will sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the children will be recognising the repeats in the song and singing them independently.
On Tuesday we will continue with singing and we will use our rhyme of the week (Old MacDonald had a farm) to find the repeats and for children to lead in singing the repeats.
On Wednesday we will be using a singing sack. The children will choose items from the singing sack and we will sing the rhymes, with the children identifying the repeats. Songs we will use include 5 Little Monkeys, 5 Little Ducks, 5 Currant Buns and 5 Little Speckled Frogs.
On Thursday we will be finding repeats in stories. We will use the traditional tale The Enormous Turnip, and the children will participate in the stories repeated refrains, for example "they pulled and they pulled."
Finally on Friday the children will looking at repeats in artwork. They have looked at this throughout the week in continuous provision to support them with Friday's learning. On Friday they will listen to the story Elmer (watch it here: Elmer - The Patchwork Elephant | Children's Books | Read Aloud) and they will look at the patterns on the elephants at the end of the story. Using the patterns they have seen, the children will be able to use chalk to draw their own patterns on the playground.
Please talk to your child about our learning to help consolidate what we are doing.
