This week (wb 2.11.2026) in Maths, we will be learning to subitise to 3.

Monday – nursery is closed due to Inset Day. 

On Tuesday we will be noticing different amounts of images in books. We will read the story 'Each Peach, Pear, Plum' and the children will be subitising different amounts of characters on each page. On Wednesday we will be working to subitise different amounts of objects using 'fast eyes'. The children will see amounts of either 1, 2 or 3 and they will work to subitise the group. 

On Friday we will subitise different amounts of spots using dice formations. The children will try to recognise the amounts quickly, using their 'fast eyes'. Once they have attempted to subitise an amount, we will then check by counting. 

To support your child at home, please work with them on counting up to 5 and recognising the corresponding numerals. If your child can recognise numerals to 5, please work on numerals to 10 both in and out of order and their corresponding amounts.
