Our rhyme of the week is: Five Speckled Frogs. You can sing it with your child at home by following the link: BBC iPlayer - Numberblocks - Numbersongs: Five Little Speckled Frogs
This week (week beginning 13.42026) our story is Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs. You can watch the story here with your child: Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs - Give Us A Story - YouTube
On Monday we will be reading our story and talking about the book. We will see if we can name any of the dinosaurs after we have listened to the story.
On Tuesday we will be talking in short sentences to discuss the story. We will listen to the story again and then the children will look at the different dinosaurs and discuss the size of them and their colour. Staff will model talking in short sentences and support the children in repeating the sentences.
On Wednesday we will listen to the story again and look at images of different dinosaurs. The children will be working on drawing one of the dinosaurs in their books, and then they will make marks and write at least one recognisable letter.
On Thursday we will be looking at name writing and recognition. All children will look at their name and attempt to read it, then we will see if they can write their name independently. For those children that are still unable to write their name, they will continue to practice with an adult weekly.
Finally on Friday with Mrs Chatterjee the children will be singing our rhyme of the week, Five Speckled Frogs. The children will try to remember the words and count backwards from 5.
To support your child's learning at home, please practice writing their name and read lots of stories together!
