Our rhyme of the week is: Old MacDonald had a farm. You can sing it with your child and use the video to support you: Old MacDonald Had A Farm | Kids Songs | Super Simple Songs
This week (week beginning 2.3.2026) our story is The Tiny Seed. You can watch the story here with your child: The Tiny Seed – 🌻 A read aloud of Eric Carle's classic book!
On Monday we will be reviewing our learning from last week and introducing our new story. The children will hear our new story and then talk about the seasons that we see in the story and what happens to the tiny seed as the story progresses.
On Tuesday we will reread the story The Tiny Seed and then talk about what a seed needs to grow. The children will be using full sentences to discuss what a seed needs to grow. We will then look at the resources that we have for the children to grow their own plants.
On Wednesday we will be using our knowledge of planting from Tuesday to support us in planting our own bean seed. Miss Allan will model the steps to take to plant a bean seed and, during continuous provision, the children will follow instructions to plant their own bean. The children will then write their name and creat a label for their pot so they can monitor growth over the remainder of the half-term.
On Thursday we are celebrating World Book Day! We are looking forward to seeing the children come to Nursery in their pyjamas to get cosy and have lots of wonderful stories. The children will listen to stories that reflect our school values and complete activities to inspire a love of reading.
On Friday the children will be writing their names and ensuring correct letter formation. For those children that can write the letters of their name, we will be working on writing on a line.
To support your child's learning at home, please practice writing their name and read lots of stories together!
