This week (wb 2.11.2026) we are learning about the celebration of Bonfire Night.  

Our key vocabulary is:

Our rhyme of the week is: Five Little Monkeys. 

We are continuing with our colourful semantics. This week our sentence is: The girl is painting. 

Monday – Nursery is shut for Inset Day. 

On Tuesday we will begin to learn about what Bonfire Night is and how people may celebrate it. To support the children's understanding of what Bonfire Night is, we will watch My First Festivals - Series 2: 7. Bonfire Night - BBC iPlayer. 

On Wednesday we will be understanding how people celebrate Bonfire Night. The children will recap what they saw in My First Festivals. Once we have discussed how people celebrate Bonfire Night, we will mark make in our books how people celebrate. The children will practise their pencil grip and talk about what their marks mean. 

On Friday the children will be recognising and writing their own names. This is a weekly activity that we will do until the children are able to write their names independently. We will support them with pencil grip and letter formation. 

Please support your child at home by talking about our learning. Your child also needs to be able to recognise their name – please work on this with them.
