English

During the spring term in English, we are focusing on a range of fiction and non fiction books.

Our core text books for this term are:

Antarctica by Lucy Bowman

Be Brave Little Penguin by Giles Andrae

Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne

Amy Wu and the perfect Bao by Kat Zhang

Finn's Little Fib by Tom Percival

We were lucky enough to have photos sent to us from a lady who had lived and worked in Antarctica.  We all enjoyed seeing them especially as we were reading the non-fiction book Antarctica by Lucy Bowman and a fiction book called Be Brave Little Penguin by Giles Andreae.

We loved learning about this fascinating place and talked about times when we have had to be brave. Many of us have definitely become more confident since we started in Reception.smiley

We wrote lists of things we were looking out for on our Winter Walk. What signs of winter have you seen?

We all enjoyed reading Handa's Surprise.

Among the activities we took part in were making a fruit booklet, drawing and writing about our favourite fruits, shopping for fruit and a fruit banquet to end the half term.

We also learnt about the importance of healthy eating and about Africa including the animals that live there.

We enjoyed creating books about fruit.

Which fruit is your favourite and why?

Shopping for fruit - we made heathly choices !
