Writing

Good morning Year 6!

Welcome to this week's English learning.

Last week, you wrote a non-chronological report on the subject of lighthouses. We are not moving on from this just yet.

As part of your success criteria, you were asked to use - and highlight the use of, more ambitious punctuation. So we will be taking that one success criterion and working on it this week then looking back on last week's writing and improving your use of punctuation.

Today, we will move on a step and look at how dashes can be used in our writing to create pauses.

The lesson is in three parts:

1)   Read through the INTRODUCTION. Today's focus is on DASHES.

2)   Watch the lessons and take any notes you need to in your Home Learning book. Complete

the task and quiz on the BBC website.

3)   From the TASK, complete all sentences activities in your Home Learning book.

Please make sure that you complete ALL of the activities: the rehearsal sentences and  your report paragraph from last week.
