In today’s lesson you will be learning about the season of winter.

Learning objective: To create a winter word bank.

  1. What do you know about winter?
  2. What is the weather like?
  3. What changes do you see? What clothes do you wear?
  4. What celebrations do you have?
  5. Write 10 words that you already know about winter.
  6. Watch the video clip.  Winter Video
  7. Write 5 new things you noticed about winter that you haven’t already written down.
  8. Look outside your window, on your balcony or in your garden for signs of winter. Using your five senses, what can see? What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you feel? What can you taste?
  9. Collect an interesting word for each sense.

For example:

See – frost

Hear – whispering wind

Smell – fresh air

Feel – chilly air

Taste – warm hot chocolate.
