As per my email last week regarding news about opening I am sorry to say that the school will be closed tomorrow – Wednesday 6th September – as I am not satisfied that we are ready to provide a safe and suitable learning environment for your children. This is due to many of the necessary works not have been completed to schedule resulting in staff not being able to access classrooms and also a great deal of outstanding cleaning and safety measures needing to be in place.
I apologise that I was unable to send this email yesterday but our prolonged meeting finished late and then I was trying to make the necessary arrangements to close the school.
I know this will undoubtedly cause issues with regards to work and childcare but hopefully many of you were able to make provision based on my email last week. I also know that many of you will be upset that we have taken this decision. You should know though that I would not take this decision lightly and as such it has been discussed with Dave Kill – Co-chair of governors, Johnny Kyriacou – Head of Education for Slough who has authorisation from Cate Duffy – Strategic Director for Children, Learning & Skills.
The staff team will be working extremely hard to ensure that the building is fit for purpose on Thursday so that we can open then. If anything changes I will let you know immediately.
Kind regards and apologies,
Mrs R. Cross
